WELCOME TO CET KARNATAKA
Common Entrance Test or CET Karnataka is conducted for the purpose of admitting students to first year Courses in Engineering, Medical, Dental Courses in Karnataka.
Professional colleges in Karnataka State which offers Medical, Dental and Engineering Education are affiliated to the state run Universities, admit students through Karnataka CET every year.
There are three kinds of seats (Free seats, payment and management quota seats) available in the various colleges. The fee structure differs every year.
Only Karnataka students are allowed for CET for the academic year rest can opt for COMEDK exam
Common Entrance Test (CET) is the test conducted by the state Govt. to admit students to medical, dental and engineering courses in Karnataka.
Who can Apply?
A candidate who has passed the second year Pre-University or 12th standard or equivalent examination (herein after referred to as the “qualifying examination” or “Q. E.” in short) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology group is eligible for Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses (40% in case of SC/ST/ Category-1 candidates.) ; provided that for Dental course, the candidate must also have secured 50% of marks in the English language. (40% in case of SC/ST/Category-1 candidates.) Further, the candidates seeking admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses, should have completed the age of seventeen years as on 31st December of 2006
Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in both Common Entrance Test and the Qualifying Examination, the Medical rank list will be prepared and published separately for admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses.
A candidate who has passed the Q. E. with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Information Science / Electronics / Biology as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 35% marks in the optional subjects is eligible for Engineering and Technology courses ; provided further that, the marks obtained by the candidate in Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Information Science / Electronics / Biology in the Q. E., will be considered in place of Chemistry for the purpose of determination of eligibility in respect of Engineering / Technology courses.
Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in both Common Entrance Test and the Qualifying Examination, the Engineering rank list will be prepared and published.
A candidate who has passed the Q. E. with Mathematics as one of the optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study along with other subjects and obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate in all subjects OR as revised by the Architecture Council of India, from time to time, is eligible for Architecture course. (40% in case of SC/ST/Category-1 candidates.) ; provided that the candidates who are interested in admission to Architecture course, should appear for both PART –1 & PART – 2 of the Aptitude Test compulsorily. Marks obtained by the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in the Common Entrance Test will not be taken into account for determining the merit / rank, for admission to Architecture course.
Based on the performance of the candidates in both Aptitude Test and the Qualifying Examination, the Architecture rank list will be prepared and published. The SC / ST / Category - 1 eligibility criteria is applicable to persons of Karnataka origin who are claiming eligibility for Government seats under clauses (a), (b), (f), (h), (j), (k) and (l) and the same is not applicable to clauses (c), (d), (e), (g) and (i) of Item - 7 of Chapter – I. Not only a candidate who has passed the qualifying examination with requisite marks but also a candidate who has appeared for the Q. E. and expecting the results is eligible to apply for the Common Entrance Test / Aptitude Test.
The repeaters and ex-students of Karnataka 2nd PUC, CBSE, CISCE and other candidates claiming eligibility for Government seats, should invariably send a photocopy of their Q. E. marks card (on which the CET admission ticket number is boldly written) to the CET Cell soon after the completion of Common Entrance Test on or before 20-05-2006, failing which, the results of such candidates will be with-held for want of Q. E. Marks. However, intermediary ranks / Spot ranks will be assigned for the candidates whose results have been with-held, subsequent to the submission of photocopy of the Q. E. marks card. The candidates who are appearing for Karnataka 2nd PUC Annual 2006 as freshers need not furnish the Q. E. marks, as it will be obtained directly from the Department of PUE.
After the publication of Karnataka 2nd PUC annual 2006 results, the candidates who apply for revaluation / retotalling should invariably produce the revised marks card to the CET Cell immediately for getting the new ranks assigned.
